The year 2010 started out great with the anticipation of the birth of our first child! I was three months pregnant which was as far as I'd ever been. I had had two previous miscarriages the year before. February 2009 and August 2009. Neither of these pregnancies had made it very far, but when you are trying to have a baby and get so excited over it your world comes crashing down around you when you miscarriage! At the beginning of February 2010 my husband and I found out we were having a baby boy, and he was as healthy as could be! We named him Michial John. Michial was after my grandpa Mike who passed away in 2001, and John is my husbands name.During my pregnancy I started experiencing awful headaches, increasingly bad balance, and I started getting bad vision (which my vision has always been perfect), My OB had told me that the hormones from being pregnant changes everything, and that it was all normal. I started taking Tylenol PM every night before I went to bed so I wouldn't wake up with a headache. Once I had a headache during the day it was impossible to get rid off since all I could take was Tylenol.
After a few months my headaches were getting better, or at least I had them under control with my Tylenol PM regimen every night before bed. However, my other symptoms continued to get worse. I didn't really express to anyone how bad my balance had gotten, because I thought it was normal. I had never been this pregnant before and I had always heard that you lose your balance when your pregnant, so I assumed it was normal. I even fell one Wednesday evening at Awana, our churches Bible memorization program for children, my husband and I are both leaders. I didn't feel comfortable going up and down stairs and would opt to take the elevator whenever possible.
The rest of my pregnancy went flawless with no problems. I never had gestational diabetes or any of that. I felt Michial kicking all the time, and he always had the hiccups! My husband and I would pray every night for the health of our baby boy. My husband and I went to labor classes, a parenting class, and through that we also decided to hire a doula, which is basically a labor coach, and we also attended a breastfeeding class. As my due date of June 14th grew nearer my anticipation grew stronger! I was so ready to meet my baby boy!
